is the carrying of a knife as a tool of a trade in a bag an offence?
I need a rescue knife for my sport White Water kayaking. I practise on the evening then go to work. the knife is kept in a bag with the rest of the rescue kit. the rescue kit is then placed in with the rest of my wet ki in a holdall the company can and do staff searches and found the knife and is going to investigate to the carrying of a knife.
question is carrying in a bag in a other bag classes legally as offence the same in your pocket
As cameron says there is no offence in this case...... Providing there is a legitimate reason for carrying the knife.
It would be unreasonable to leave the knife in the bag as a matter of course. e.g. you go kayaking once every 3 months and the bag is just left in the vehicle. In that circumstance it is unreasonable to carry the knife.
If however you have just been or are just going kayaking then no problem.
A good example is a chef going to or from work. He would be allowed to carry his knives. If however he was going for a night out and he carried his knives then that is, obviously, unreasonable and an offence.
